How It Works
PDF page rotation modifies a page's rotation attribute without altering any content. Each PDF page has an internal rotation value (0°, 90°, 180°, or 270°) that tells the viewer how to orient the page when displaying it. The Rotate PDF tool simply updates this value using the pdf-lib library.
When you select "All Pages," every page in the document receives the same rotation adjustment. When you choose "Selected Pages Only," you can click on individual page thumbnails to mark them for rotation. The thumbnail grid is generated using pdfjs-dist, giving you a clear visual preview of each page before you decide which ones to rotate.
Because rotation only changes a metadata attribute (not the actual page content), the operation is extremely fast and produces zero quality loss. The output file is virtually the same size as the input. All text remains selectable, all links remain clickable, and all formatting is preserved exactly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does rotation affect text selection?
No. Rotation changes the display orientation but preserves all text as selectable and searchable. The text content of your PDF is not modified in any way by the rotation operation.
Can I rotate individual pages differently?
The current tool applies the same rotation angle to all selected pages. To rotate different pages by different amounts, process the PDF multiple times, selecting different pages and angles each time.
Does rotation change the file size?
No. Rotation modifies only a single attribute per page, the rotation angle. The file size remains virtually identical to the original because no content is added, removed, or re-encoded.
What's the difference between 90° CW and 90° CCW?
90° clockwise rotates the page to the right, the top of the page moves to the right side. 90° counter-clockwise (270°) rotates it to the left, the top moves to the left side.
Can I preview the rotation before applying?
Yes. The thumbnail grid shows all pages with their current orientation. After uploading, you can see exactly which pages need rotation before applying any changes.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
